I know, we are in the middle of winter, it’s not even Spring yet and here I am talking about Summer. Well, that doesn’t change my question, are you?
Summer is a fantastic time of the year. Kids are home, weather is good, and a lot of fun can happen during the summer. So why not consider planning for it now and make it a GREAT Summer?
Planning ahead will allow you to start saving for the things you want to do and NOT break the bank when Summer arrives.
Here are a few things to consider this Summer to save some money.
👉 Go to a movie in the afternoon. Not only are matinees normally less expensive (money savings) but it’s cooler in the theater. AND, if you go right after lunch you won’t need to buy snacks…(more money saving)
👉 If you go to a theme park, look for other families to join you and you could receive discounts for group or family rates. All you need to do is ask.
👉 If you are planning to travel, hotels and airlines offer up some nice group rates as well. Again, just ask, that never hurts.
👉 Consider staying close to home. I am willing to bet there are tons of low cost things to do within in hour of your house. If you are taking a week off, go exploring close to home. You will save on hotel and meals.
👉 Look for deals. Many attractions offer discounts for summer. Zoos, Aquariums, even bowling alleys might offer some better pricing. It might take you some time and effort to find them, but you will.
👉 Don’t do something unless you really have an interest. Too many times we hear about something that someone else did and really would not want to do it ourselves. No matter how many times they tell you that “you just have to try it,” just remember no, you don’t. This will save you wasting money.
Summer can be an expensive time of the year but it doesn’t have to be. Start setting aside some money in your budget now to cover the fun, you will be glad you did. Using these tips and making wise choices will allow you to enjoy your summer with less stress and worry.
